Financial Assistance and Career Counselling Program

The Second Annual Program of the Nahata High School Alumni Association commenced at 11:00 a.m. on 4 July 2026 in the school auditorium with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp.

The program was graced by the presence of Shri Biswajit Baidya, Headmaster of Nahata High School (H.S.), and Shri Manindranath Sarkar, our respected former teacher and distinguished alumnus of the institution. The event was also attended by members of the Executive Committee of the Alumni Association, alumni members from different parts of India, students, and other distinguished guests.

The proceedings were gracefully compered by Shri Noton Naha, one of the Cultural Secretaries of the Association. The President, Shri Pranay Biswas, welcomed the gathering with a brief yet inspiring address, followed by the Secretary, Shri Angshupati Roy, who highlighted the Association's key initiatives, including the development of the school, providing financial assistance to needy and meritorious students, promoting education and offering free healthcare services to economically disadvantaged people in the locality.

The program then moved on to the felicitation ceremony, during which students who secured Star Marks in the 2026 Madhyamik and Higher Secondary Examinations were honoured with certificates and mementoes. A total of 68 students were felicitated, comprising 46 Madhyamik and 22 Higher Secondary examinees.

The Association also presented two prestigious scholarships. The ‘Amal–Mani Science Scholarship’, carrying a cash award of ₹ 10,000 and instituted in honour of Shri Amal Kumar Ghosh and Shri Manindranath Sarkar, former Science Teachers of Nahata High School (H.S.), was awarded to the student securing the highest marks in the Class XI (Science) Examination 2026. The ‘Shri Satyendra Chandra Naha Smriti Scholarship’, carrying a cash award of ₹ 5,000 and instituted in memory of the late former Headmaster of Nahata High School (H.S.), was presented to the student securing the highest marks in the Higher Secondary Examination 2026.

In addition, several alumni members instituted memorial and commemorative scholarships in honour of their parents and teachers. These awards provided financial assistance and recognition to meritorious students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Altogether, 28 students, including four students from the 2025 academic year, received certificates and cash awards under these scholarship schemes.

The second session of the program featured an engaging Career Counselling for students of Classes IX, X, XI, and XII. The sessions were conducted by Shri Nihar Ranjan Bala, Shri Gokul Chandra Sarkar, Shri Prasad Kumar Gharami, Dr. Shankar Sarkar, Dr. Krishnendu Bhowmik, and Dr. Swagata Paul, who shared valuable guidance on academic pathways, career opportunities, and higher education.

The event concluded on a highly successful note, following which refreshments were served to all the students in attendance. While the Association has made significant progress within a short span of time, there is still much to accomplish. With continued support, a growing membership base, and the collective efforts of all alumni, the Association is confident of realizing its vision and making a greater contribution to the development of the school and the welfare of the community.
